Using Lyon’s poem, and the Lumiere Rules as a basis, my project explores the metaphysical notions of where I’m from. Using a non-linear sequence, ambiguity is paired with concrete images, reflecting my poem’s theme – that ‘home’ is more than just a place. I found that the juxtaposition of nature and urban settings was effective in communicating this, and the motif of water created unity throughout the work. The constraints of the remoscope were challenging at first, but soon lead to newfound creativity in the way I approached film composition. I found myself constantly adjusting manual settings and experimenting with different lenses, rather than blindly clicking and shooting.
